Poll reads Palin’s palm: no chance in 2012; 71% of Americans don’t think she’s qualified to be prez
Looks like the bloom is off the Rogue. More than half the nation – 55% – see Sarah Palin unfavorably, and 71% believe the “Going Rogue” author is not qualified to be President, according to an ABC News/Washington Post poll Thursday. The former Alaska governor and Tea Party darling said recently she will consider running for the White House, but both those numbers are new lows for her and don’t augur well for a national political run. “More problematic for Palin is that even in her own party 52% think she’s not qualified for the presidency – up by 16 points from an ABC/Post poll in November,” writes ABC News pollster Gary Langer. [After nearly two years of relentless attacks on this woman from the left wingers in conjunction with the lamestream media it’s no wonder an ABC/Washington Post poll came up with these numbers. Why didn’t these same ABC/Compost peeps concern themselves with Obama’s SERIOUS lack of experience when he was running for president? An agenda perhaps?…ed]
Why Real Men Get Their Hands Dirty
The other day I asked a client for her new cell number. She blushed with embarrassment, held up her left hand, and confessed that she had scribbled the number on it. I immediately lifted my hand to show off the word “cheese” in bold blue. We both laughed. All over America, people have print on their hands: Pick Up Tom; Buy Milk; Call Mom. But to the Democrats and the MSM, Sarah Palin’s writing notes on her palm is shameful. Blasting Palin is nothing new. The Democrats, aided and abetted by the MSM, have been doing this from day one. They’ve ridiculed her clothes, her body, her family — anything they can think of. With lessons learned from Saul Alinsky, the Left uses ridicule as their most potent weapon. They know that public humiliation can flatten their victim, render him or her helpless and speechless. The Left relies on ridicule because they have nothing else to go on. [“Many Americans oppose Obama’s addiction to the teleprompter because we don’t know who is programming his words. We know who wrote on Palin’s hand — Palin!” HAH! Money!!…ed]
Republicans gain on Obama, public welcomes GOP power to block
A new poll shows Republicans making solid gains, and President Obama losing ground, in public opinion on the most important issues facing the country. The survey, by the Washington Post and ABC News asks the question, “Who do you trust to do a better job handling” a particular issue — President Obama or the Republicans in Congress? Obama has out-polled the GOP on the question from the moment of his swearing in, but the poll shows his advantage shrinking dramatically. Asked who they trust to better handle the economy, those surveyed pick Obama over the GOP by 47 percent to 42 percent, giving the president a five-point margin. But in November, in the same poll, Obama led by 15 points. Last July, he led by 23 points. And last February, he his lead was 55 points. So in the course of a single year, Obama’s lead over Republicans has shrunk from 55 points to five. [There isn’t a mainstream poll in the land that doesn’t reflect this country’s dissatisfaction with Mr. Obama…ed]
Democrats in worst shape in the last 50 years
In my Examiner column today I try to answer the question: how could a team that produced such a successful presidential campaign have produced such an unsuccessful policy agenda? The metrics are pretty clear: Barack Obama got the highest percentage of the vote for a Democratic candidate for president since 1964 and now he has plunged his party into its weakest position in the polls since that time. For confirmation, look at the Real Clear Politics average of recent polls on the generic vote for Congress: 45% Republican and 42% Democratic. Rasmussen Reports, which interviews only those who pass a screen as likely voters, has it 44%-36% Republican, ABC/Washington Poll has it 45%-42% Republican, NPR’s bipartisan poll has it 44%-39% Republican and Gallup has a 45%-45% tie. Democracy Corps, a Democratic outfit which has earned respect for its results, has Democrats ahead 46%-41%. [More bad news for Obama and the Democrats. Keep in mind Democrats have owned Congress for the last three years and the White House for the last 13 months and the Republicans couldn’t stop or impede anything they wanted to do since Jan. ’09, until last months election of Scott Brown that is…ed]
Former President Bill Clinton Gets Two Stents in Coronary Artery
Former President Bill Clinton was taken to a Manhattan hospital late this afternoon and two stents were installed in one of his coronary arteries, his office said. Clinton, 63, was transported to Columbia Presbyterian Hospital in Manhattan for a condition related to his heart. The former president’s counselor Douglas Band released a statement saying that Clinton is in “good spirits.” [Word had it he was playing “five fingers up her skirt” with a couple of nurses just before the anesthesia kicked in…ed]

ACORN slated to get nearly $4 billion in Obama’s fiscal 2011 budget
To add to the list of outrageous earmarks in Obama’s fiscal 2011 budget, ACORN, the embezzlement-prone, voter-registration-fraud-plagued, leftist community organizing group, is slated to receive nearly $4 billion from a taxpayer-funded slush fund. The money will come from the Community Development Block Grant, one of the Department of Housing and Urban Development’s longest-running programs. The HUD Web site cryptically defines the grant’s purpose as providing “communities with resources to address a wide range of unique community development needs,” not a reassuring description given the group’s recent past history of aiding the community through gratuitous missappropriation of funds. [ACORN is an ongoing criminal enterprise which openly courts and enjoys the protection of a corrupt Democrat in the White House, a corrupt Democrat Attorney General, a corrupt Democrat Congress and a corrupt lamestream media. There is zero chance that Obama will allow his vote-fraud specialists to be defunded. He and the owner of the Democrat party, George Soros, have invested far too much in helping them establish a national presence. Does anybody really think the Republicans can deal honestly with the corrupt Democrats on healthcare or any other issue?…ed]
Joe Biden update: Iraq one of Obama’s ‘great achievements’
Who knew? Thank goodness, Vice President Joe Biden went on CNN to chat with Larry King Wednesday night. So many think things are not going so well for the Democrat administration, as The Ticket chronicled here. Many Americans recall the ex-Sen. Biden’s Democratic primary plans to give in to Iraq’s fractious factions and carve the country into three territories. And even more probably recall Biden’s boss’ plan to halt the Iraq war years ago. As long as it got started anyway without the permission of the then state senator. Plus, of course, Obama’s vehement opposition to the 2007 American troop surge of you-know-who from Texas that Obama knew for certain was only going to worsen sectarian strife there. [Clearly Joe Biden is another one of Obama’s great accomplishments…ed]
States Get New Leeway to Tally Prisoners in Census
States are getting new leeway in tallying their prisoners in the 2010 census — a move that could reshape the political map, increasing urban population numbers while reducing the figures for rural voting districts where inmates are incarcerated. The Census Bureau said this week it would release data on prison populations to states when they redraw legislative boundaries next year. Previously, the agency provided the breakdowns on group quarters, like prisons, after states finished their high-stakes redistricting. That resulted in districts with prisons getting extra representation in their legislatures, despite laws in some states that say a prison cell is not a residence. Now that the prison data is being made available earlier, states can decide whether they want to count inmates for purposes of redistricting and, if so, where they should be considered residents — in rural towns, where prisons are often built, or cities, where many prisoners came from. [What next, prisoners will be allowed to vote? Oh wait, I guess they can now!…ed]
District to Offer iPods For Filling Out Students With Disabilities Survey
It sounds like a scam: Fill out a survey and you’ll get a free iPod. But Polk County School District officials hope you’ll take the offer seriously. District officials announced Tuesday that they will give silver iPods Nanos worth $150 to parents of children with disabilities who complete a 10-minute online survey. The state survey asks 26 questions about how well the child’s school partners with parents of students with disabilities. The survey can be found at www.esesurvey.com. (SNIP) The district has set aside up to $350,000 of federal money, to be used specifically for programs for developmentally disabled students, for the iPods and Woolcock said she received a discount on the price. [Remember when Obama said he desperately needed the “stimulus bill” passed so his administration could “create jobs” in this country? Yeah, this is another great example of how that’s workin’ out for us. BTW, according to this district’s website one in nine of their students are considered “disabled”. That’s one hell of a ratio if you ask me…ed]
Alec Baldwin, a star of NBC’s “30 Rock,” was examined Thursday at a hospital after his daughter called 911 saying he had threatened to take pills after they argued, a law enforcement official said. Airport Body Scanners Violate the Teachings of Islam, Says Muslim Group
A group of Muslim scholars says it supports airline safety, but it is “deeply concerned” about the use of airport scanners that show nude images of the human body. “The Fiqh Council of North America (FCNA) emphasizes that a general and public use of such scanners is against the teachings of Islam, natural law and all religions and cultures that stand for decency and modesty,” the group said in a Feb. 10 statement posted at Islam Online. “It is a violation of clear Islamic teachings that men or women be seen naked by other men and women,” FCNA explained. The group noted that Islam emphasizes modesty, considering it part of the faith. “The Qur’an has commanded the believers, both men and women, to cover their private parts” and to be modest in their dress. [In that case I suggest muslims start their own airline company. After all if it wasn’t for them blowing planes out of the sky and ramming them into buildings we wouldn’t have to have this level of invasive security…ed]
Arizona quits Western climate endeavor
Arizona will no longer participate in a groundbreaking attempt to limit greenhouse-gas emissions across the West, a change in policy by Gov. Jan Brewer that will include a review of all the state’s efforts to combat climate change. Brewer stopped short of pulling Arizona out of the multistate coalition that plans to regulate greenhouse gases starting in 2012. But she made it clear in an executive order that Arizona will not endorse the emission-control plan or any program that could raise costs for consumers and businesses. [RIGHT ON! Heatwave roasts Rio, kills 32 in southern Brazil
The worst heatwave to hit Rio de Janeiro in 50 years turned the city into a pre-Carnival furnace Wednesday, and killed 32 elderly people further south, officials said. According to the Inmet national weather service, recorded temperatures in Rio were well above 40 degrees Celsius (104 degrees) — and felt more like above 50 degrees. “The heatwave in Rio is seen as historic. February right now is the hottest month for the past 50 years,” meteorologist Giovanni Dolif told the O Globo daily. On Monday and Tuesday, the scalding conditions proved deadly for 32 elderly residents in Santos, a city close to Sao Paulo and 350 kilometers (220 miles) south of Rio. Half of them succumbed in their homes and the other half died as they sought help in clinics, a spokeswoman for the city’s health service told AFP. The heatwave made Rio the hottest place on the planet on Tuesday, save for Ada, a town in eastern Ghana, according to data from the World Meteorological Organization. [It’s freakin SUMMERTIME in Rio de Janeriro for goodness sakes and 104 degrees is hardly what I would call off the charts in the middle of the SUMMER season. Tunnel assault on girl sparks security debate
King County Metro Transit will change its security policy in the Downtown Transit Tunnel after a surveillance video showed a 15-year-old girl beaten in front of three security guards who didn’t intervene to help her, an agency official said Wednesday. In the meantime, county officials have called for a full review of tunnel security practices. A law enforcement officer, however, says Metro should go further and revisit a decision that greatly reduced the number of commissioned police officers working in the tunnel and replaced them with private security guards. [Most have probably seen this but I don’t know what the beef is here. The job description for these “security guards” clearly stated they were not to intervene nor take any kind of action in the case of an altercation other than observe and report. Judging by the video they all did plenty of observing so what’s the problem? Had they laid a hand on the attacker they very well could have lost their jobs. After all how many times have we heard of companies that fire security employees for running after and detaining shoplifters?…ed]
If you own a cell phone, you should care about the outcome of a case scheduled to be argued in federal appeals court in Philadelphia tomorrow. It could well decide whether the government can use your cell phone to track you – even if it hasn’t shown probable cause to believe it will turn up evidence of a crime. The American Civil Liberties Union, the Electronic Frontier Foundation and the Center for Democracy and Technology will ask the court to require that the government at least show probable cause before it can track your whereabouts. (SNIP) The government has argued that “one who does not wish to disclose his movements to the government need not use a cellular telephone.” [Wow, I actually agree with the anti American aclu on this one. Toyota Will Restore Trust in 10 Years
As Toyota begins to take control of the multiple recalls it issued for many of its cars, marketing expert Sally Hogshead predicted the car company will take 10 to 20 years to recover from concerns about the safety of its models. “Fixing the cars will be the easy part,” Hogshead, author of “Fascinate: Your 7 Triggers to Persuasion and Captivation,” told Co-Anchor of CBS’ “The Early Show” Harry Smith Thursday morning. (SNIP) “We’ll be seeing for at least a decade, maybe two, that there will be major problems with the Toyota brand because the brand has been founded upon trust, upon reliability and safety and certainty,” Hogshead told Smith. “So the very core bedrock of the brand has now been struck hard by this, and consumers are doubting whether or not Toyota was forthcoming enough with them.” [Sounds like someone out there shilling for Obama owned Government Motors. Man attacks TVs in Lilburn Walmart
Lilburn Police are investigating what may have caused a man to walk into a Walmart and destroy 29 flat-screen televisions. After grabbing a metal baseball bat from the sporting goods section, he walked to the electronics department and destroyed the TVs on display. East Palo Alto cop takes heat for Facebook remarks
An East Palo Alto police detective is taking heat in online forums for allegedly posting comments from his Facebook account that advocate shooting Open Carry gun advocates. Detective Rod Tuason apparently made the remarks in response to a friend’s status update, which joked that gun advocates who carry unloaded weapons in plain view as a political statement should start doing so in places such as Oakland, Richmond and East Palo Alto “and not limit themselves to hoity toity cities.” “Haha, we had one guy last week try to do it!” Tuason replied, referring to a Redwood City man who strolled into the Mi Pueblo Food Center in East Palo Alto on Jan. 27 with a gun on his hip. “He got proned out and reminded where he was at and that turds will jack him for his gun in a heartbeat!” After several more comments in the thread, Tuason apparently joked that officers should shoot the advocates, who have made recent headlines throughout the Bay Area for sipping coffee at cafes and performing other everyday acts with visible weapons. “Sounds like you had someone practicing their 2nd amendment rights last night!” Tuason wrote. “Should’ve pulled the AR out and prone them all out! And if one of them makes a furtive movement … 2 weeks off!!!” [Hopefully this detective, after getting his ass handed to him by fellow officers who believe in our Constitution and the Second Amendment, will have a change of heart and realize his life or the lives of his loved ones very well could depend on a law abiding concealed carry permit holding citizen some day…ed]
Montgomery basketball player shows gun at KFC to threaten players, coaches after loss, police say
Eighteen-year-old Walter Means of George Washington Carver High School in Montgomery has been arrested after being accused of lifting his shirt to show a gun at a KFC restaurant in order to threaten Selma High School coaches and players after a loss, the Montgomery Advertiser reports. Means has been booted from the team and the incident will have no bearing on Carver’s ability to play in the postseason, Alabama High School Athletic Association executive director Steve Savarese told the Advertiser.
