Food-Stamp Usage Soars Under Obama

More than 36 million Americans — one of every eight adults and one of every four children — rely on food stamps in order to eat, and those numbers will likely grow. “I think the response of the program has been tremendous,” Kevin Concannon, an undersecretary of agriculture, told The New York Times, “but we’re mindful that there are another 15, 16 million who could benefit.” Government figures show that nationwide, food stamps reach only about two-thirds of those eligible to receive them, with rates ranging from 50 percent of Californians to 98 percent of those who live in Missouri. [It’s all part of the master plan folks and it’s gonna get much worse before we can even think about it getting better. Keep your powder dry and stock up accordingly…ed]

Maurice Clemmons, man wanted for questioning, has troubling criminal history

Maurice Clemmons, the 37-year-old Tacoma man being sought for questioning in the killing this morning of four Lakewood police officers, has a long criminal record punctuated by violence, erratic behavior and concerns about his mental health. Nine years ago, then-Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee granted clemency to Clemmons, commuting his lengthy prison sentence over the protests of prosecutors. “This is the day I’ve been dreading for a long time,” Larry Jegley, prosecuting attorney for Arkansas’ Pulaski County said tonight when informed that Clemmons was being sought for questioning in connection with the killings. [Huckabee felt sorry for this then 17 year old criminal who was found guilty of several serious felonies then sentenced to basically a life sentence. RINO Huckabee’s chances of coming out on top in a Republican presidential primary in 2012 is now essentially zero which is a very good thing for conservatives indeed…ed]

Huckabee: ‘Less than likely’ I’ll run in 2012

Mike Huckabee, the former Republican governor from Arkansas who has his own Fox show told Chris Wallace on “Fox News Sunday” that a 2012 presidential bid is “less than likely” and depends on whether Roger Ailes, the head of Fox News, keeps liking his show. “The reason I wouldn’t is that this Fox gig I’ve got is really wonderful, ” he said, talking about whether or not he would get in the race given that he is a GOP front runner according to most recent polls. “Jumping into the pool, you gottta make sure there is some water in it.” [It’s probably best you didn’t Mr. Huck especially now that four cops are dead because you let their alleged killer loose…ed]

7 stories Barack Obama doesn’t want told

Presidential politics is about storytelling. Presented with a vivid storyline, voters naturally tend to fit every new event or piece of information into a picture that is already neatly framed in their minds. No one understands this better than Barack Obama and his team, who won the 2008 election in part because they were better storytellers than the opposition. The pro-Obama narrative featured an almost mystically talented young idealist who stood for change in a disciplined and thoughtful way. This easily outpowered the anti-Obama narrative, featuring an opportunistic Chicago pol with dubious relationships who was more liberal than he was letting on. A year into his presidency, however, Obama’s gift for controlling his image shows signs of faltering. [Rut roh. The Arabs Have Stopped Applauding Obama

‘He talks too much,” a Saudi academic in Jeddah, who had once been smitten with Barack Obama, recently observed to me of America’s 44th president. He has wearied of Mr. Obama and now does not bother with the Obama oratory. He is hardly alone, this academic. In the endless chatter of this region, and in the commentaries offered by the press, the theme is one of disappointment. In the Arab-Islamic world, Barack Obama has come down to earth. He has not made the world anew, history did not bend to his will, the Indians and Pakistanis have been told that the matter of Kashmir is theirs to resolve, the Israeli-Palestinian conflict is the same intractable clash of two irreconcilable nationalisms, and the theocrats in Iran have not “unclenched their fist,” nor have they abandoned their nuclear quest. [Obama speaks poorly of us and America while on foreign soil and that makes anyone suspicious of his motives including our enemies. The fact that Arabs, virulently anti western by their very nature, applauded this guy in the first place should cause any TRUE American to be concerned…ed]

Poll: Palin best reflects GOP core values

Republican voters are split on whether their party’s leadership is taking the GOP in the right direction, according to a new national poll. The Washington Post survey released Monday also indicates that Republicans say that Sarah Palin, more than any other leader, best reflects the core values of the party. According to the poll, 18 percent of Republicans and independents who lean towards the GOP say the former Alaska governor best reflects core GOP values. In second place, 5 points back, is Sen. John McCain of Arizona, last year’s Republican presidential nominee, followed by former Arkansas governor and 2008 presidential candidate Mike Huckabee at 7 percent, former Massachusetts governor and presidential candidate Mitt Romney at 6 percent, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich at 4 percent and conservative talk radio host Rush Limbaugh at 2 percent. [Now you know why the Democrats and their cohorts in the media have been mercilessly attacking this woman from the day she stepped onto the national stage. That said WTF were those polled thinking about with John McCain?…ed]

REVEALED: ACORN, NBC Worked Together in ‘Undercover Video Sting’

Since the undercover ACORN videos from James O’Keefe and Hannah Giles first broke, the grand pooh-bahs of journalism have gone into self-absorbed philosopher mode. Rather than report on the ACORN corruption playing out before our eyes, “journalists” have tsk-tsked their way through thousands of words and yards of column inches making certain that everyone understands that what James and Hannah did IS…NOT…JOURNALISM. (As if that is the existential question to make sense of the ACORN videos.) Undercover videos and assuming fake identities are things real journalists do not do…except when they do. Below is a page from ACORN’s 2005 Annual Report. In it, they tell the story of how one of their employees teamed up with NBC Dateline to do a ‘video sting’ on tax-preparer Jackson Hewitt. ACORN considered name change

ACORN, the troubled community service organization, recently considered changing its name in a bid to rehabilitate its image, according to an internal memo obtained by POLITICO. The document, which will be released Tuesday as part of a Republican congressional forum on ACORN, illustrates the internal deliberation the group has undergone after a year of embarrassing scandals. The document was found in Dumpster outside of an ACORN office in San Diego, a House Republican aide said. Derrick Roach, an unsuccessful Republican candidate for statehouse in California, took thousands of documents last week from the trash outside the office. An ACORN spokesman confirmed the veracity of the document. [You can take the monkey outta the jungle but you’ll never get the jungle outta the monkey. BBC weatherman ‘ignored’ leaked climate row emails

The BBC has become tangled in the row over the alleged manipulation of scientific data on global warming. One of its reporters has revealed he was sent some of the leaked emails from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia more than a month ago – but did nothing about them. Despite the explosive nature of some of the messages – which revealed apparent attempts by the CRU’s head, Professor Phil Jones, to destroy global temperature data rather than give it to scientists with opposing views – Paul Hudson failed to report the story. [So the BBC, which has been a party to this fraud all along, had evidence of the scam in their laps for over a month and kept it under wraps? Imagine that…ed]

Gibbs: Despite research dispute, ‘climate change is happening’

The White House on Monday made exceptionally clear that it wants nothing to do with the furor over documents that global warming skeptics say prove the phenomenon is not a threat. Despite the incident, which rocked international headlines last week, climate science is sound, Press Secretary Robert Gibbs stressed this afternoon, and the White House nonetheless believes “climate change is happening.” “I don’t think that’s anything that is, quite frankly, among most people, in dispute anymore,” he said during Monday’s press briefing. Al Sharpton’s daughter Dominique and ex-wife Kathy Jordan appear in court after traffic stop

Al Sharpton’s ex-wife and daughter launched an obscenity-laced tirade and tried to avoid being handcuffed after a Harlem traffic stop, prosecutors charged Monday. “Why the f— are you locking her up?” Kathy Jordan, 53, yelled at officers as they arrested her daughter. “Get your f—— hands off her.” Dominique Sharpton, 23, did not remain silent either when a cop handed her summons for cutting him off by crossing a double line and running a red light Oct. 30. “This is f—— bull—-,” police say she screamed. “You were driving too slow. I have a play to go to.” [I wonder why the Rev. Al divorced his wife Dennis Rodman to begin with? Grew tired of kissing her filthy mouth perhaps? Stay classy Sharpton clan, stay classy…ed]

Serena Williams Fined, Gets 2-Year Probation for U.S. Open Tirade

Serena Williams was fined a record $82,500 for her U.S. Open tirade and could be suspended from that tournament if she has another “major offense” at any Grand Slam in the next two years. Grand Slam administrator Bill Babcock’s ruling was released Monday, and he said Williams faces a “probationary period” at tennis’ four major championships in 2010 and 2011. If she has another “major offense” at a Grand Slam tournament in that time, the fine would increase to $175,000 and she would be barred from the following U.S. Open. [She threatened the life of a linesman and should have been brought up on criminal charges but alas, she gets nothing more than a little ding in her checkbook. Oil prices spike after Iran seizes yacht

Oil prices jumped Monday after Britian said a racing yacht was seized by Iran in the Persian Gulf and that five U.K. nationals were being held. Crude quickly climbed $1.23 and settled at $77.28 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. The yacht may have strayed inadvertently into Iranian waters when it was stopped last Wednesday, British officials said. It isn’t the first time that Iran has taken custody of Britains at sea and energy prices rose on the specter of an extended standoff with one of the world’s biggest producers of oil. Two years ago 15 British military personnel were seized in the Gulf by Iran. They were charged them with trespassing in its waters, but all were eventually freed. Fifty-Three Percent of Americans Now Disapprove of Obama’s Handling of Health-Care Issue, Says Gallup Poll

A majority of Americans–53 percent–now disapprove of the way President Obama is handling the health care issue, and 49 percent want their members of Congress to vote ‘no’ on Obama’s government-led restructuring of the health-care system, according to a Gallup poll. The report, released Monday, shows that only self-identified Democrats support the plan, with strong majorities of both Republicans and Independents opposing the president. Health bills fail to block illegals from coverage

Hundreds of thousands of illegal immigrants could receive health care coverage from their employers under the bills winding their way through Congress, despite President Obama’s explicit pledge that illegal immigrants would not benefit. The House bill mandates, and the Senate bill strongly encourages, businesses to extend health care coverage to all employees. But the bills do not have exemptions to screen out illegal immigrants, who usually obtain jobs by using false identities and are indistinguishable from legal workers. CBO: Senate bill would increase individual insurance premiums

Individual insurance premiums would increase by an average of 10 percent or more, according to an analysis of the Senate healthcare bill. The long-awaited report by the Congressional Budget Office (CBO) and the Joint Committee on Taxation (JCT) also concluded that subsidies provided by the legislation would make coverage cheaper for those who qualify. The report, issued in the form of a letter to Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.), will provide both Democrats and Republicans with ammunition as the Senate begins amending the healthcare bill on Monday. “CBO and JCT estimate that the average premium per person covered (including dependents) for new nongroup policies would be about 10 percent to 13 percent higher in 2016 than the average premium for nongroup coverage in that same year under current law. About half of those enrollees would receive government subsidies that would reduce their costs well below the premiums that would be charged for such policies under current law,” the report says. [Why is it so many folks are allegedly so wound up about the “high cost” of healthcare insurance but few appear to be up in arms about the high cost of their damn federal, state, local, property and sales TAX BURDEN?!?]

It’s that Silly, Politically Correct Holiday Season

It happens every year at this time: the battles of political correctness. When a community puts up a Christmas tree, one of two things happens. Either there is a battle to take it down totally, or someone fights to get a Chanukkiyah (that’s the real name, not Menorah), Kwanzaa candles, or a symbol of some other religion’s holiday placed right next to it. Then Fox News follows by running stories about the latest battle in the “war against Christmas,” and the ACLU starts suing any town whose mayor ever went to a church, mosque, and/or synagogue. Hey, ACLU: Give it up. America is a Christian country. [The AmericanThinker.com post of the day…ed]

United Nations Wants $7.1 Billion for Humanitarian Work in 2010

The United Nations asked Monday for $7.1 billion to pay for its humanitarian work around the world next year, with Sudan and its troubled Darfur region most in need and Afghanistan rising to second. The money will go toward providing 48 million people in 25 countries with urgent aid such as tents, water and medicine, said U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon, who urged countries not to cut back on humanitarian donations as they struggle with economic turmoil at home. “The global recession has raised inevitable concerns that humanitarian funding may decline in 2010,” Ban said in a statement. “I urge member states and private donors to keep that from happening.” [After the United States taxpayer provided money for all the UN conferences in five star hotels, hundred thousand dollar luncheons, first class airfare, stretch Hummer limousines, mega salaries and bonuses and the requisite graft is taken out of the 7 billion bucks how much does that leave for actual aid?…ed]

California debt may be half a trillion dollars

Just days before Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger and legislators finalized a water package, including an $11.1 billion bond issue, state Treasurer Bill Lockyer warned them not to do it. California is already deeply in debt, Lockyer warned, has huge budget deficits and can’t afford another big bond issue. “The days of blithely heaping more and more debt burden on the general fund are over – at least they should be,” Lockyer said. The earmark-laden bond issue, the package’s single most controversial element, raises an interesting question: Just how deeply in debt are our state and local governments? The answer: No one knows for certain, since debt is scattered through myriad agencies in many forms, but well over a half-trillion dollars is a fair estimate. [Perhaps all of the Hollywood liberals could step up and hand over a huge chunk of their wealth to help this state get its financial situation under control. Alec Baldwin says lost interest in acting, will soon quit

U.S. actor Alec Baldwin says he has lost interest in acting and considers his film career a failure. “I don’t have any interest in acting anymore,” Baldwin, 51, told “Men’s Journal” in an interview for its December issue. Baldwin, best-known for his Emmy-award winning role in the NBC comedy “30 Rock” and the man chosen to co-host the 2010 Oscar ceremony, added: “Movies are a part of my past. It’s been 30 years. I’m not young, but I have time to do something else”. [Prepare to see this asshat try to run for political office soon. His opponents will no doubt hammer Mr. Father of the Year over this phone call to his young daughter but it won’t matter as he is so far to the left his supporters won’t care what a puke of a “dad” he is as long as he pushes the agenda like a good little boy…ed]
