A pair of Salt Lake City men are accused of assaulting their grandmother with bottles of shampoo and baby powder before urinating on the woman and leaving her injured in a bathroom. The attack occurred July 2 at a home near 700 South and 300 East, according to charging documents filed Tuesday in 3rd District Court. Michael Levi Hansen Jr., 20, and Christopher Eugene Hansen, 22, forced their way into a bathroom in the home they shared with their 66-year-old grandmother as the woman was taking a shower, court documents state.

The FBI agent who pleaded “no contest” to charges of animal cruelty has been sentenced to 2 years deferred probation and 300 hours of community service. Neighbors accused Agent Lovett Leslie Ledger, Jr., of killing their Chihuahua with a pellet gun in February 2008. He was charged with animal cruelty.
A Metro rail operator has been suspended without pay for five days after a rider caught him on video apparently sending text messages while his train was running in automatic mode. The rider then posted the video on YouTube. The rider recorded the video June 5 on a Blue Line train headed from King Street to Van Dorn Street. It appears to show the conductor with his head slumped forward, paying no attention to the tracks ahead.

San Quentin prison in CA to stop accepting new inmates for awhile because of the swine flu bug.
San Quentin State Prison will stop accepting inmates from 19 Northern California counties Wednesday because of swine flu fears, corrections officials said Tuesday. Nearly half the 5,200 inmates in the prison north of San Francisco are being quarantined. Luis Patino, a spokesman for the federal receiver who oversees prison medical care, said tests show four inmates likely have the H1N1 virus, and 47 inmates are showing symptoms.

A Las Vegas man won a courtroom battle Wednesday with the Nevada Department of Motor Vehicles over his “HOE” license plate, which the agency refused to renew on grounds that he was using a slang reference to prostitutes. The high court said the DMV based its refusal of William Junge’s plate on definitions found in the Web-based Urban Dictionary, which includes user contributions. It ruled that the contributed definitions “do not always reflect generally accepted definitions for words.”
Thieves con apparently lazy real estate agents to gain access to houses.
Two Chandler couples hoping to sell their houses to prospective buyers were instead duped out of expensive watches, jewelry, collector coins and a purse. Both owners said they received calls from a real estate agent asking to show their home to clients and requesting that the families not be home at the time. Both later noticed small but expensive items missing.
