An autopsy determined that a couple whose bodies were found in their Anastasia Island home on Sunday died of natural causes. An off-duty firefighter passing the house on Sunday morning noticed an odor coming from the house in the 200 block of Puebla Road in the Treasure Beach neighborhood and found the 80-year-old Donald Hankey and 77-year-old Patricia Hankey dead on the floor of the living room.

A Maitland man died while saving his son’s life during a hiking trip in North Carolina. Michael Grady, 52, died over the weekend while rescuing his 12-year-old son, Austin, who was stuck in the Cullasaja River near Highlands, N.C.
CA sheriff deputy caught swiping prescription drugs during sting pleads not guilty.
A San Bernardino County sheriff’s deputy has been charged with drug possession after a hidden camera showed him pocketing 71 Vicodin pills during a hotel-room sting in Redlands. Jeffery Karp, 36, who has worked for the Sheriff’s Department since July 1999, pleaded not guilty Thursday in San Bernardino Superior Court to one count of possessing a controlled substance. He was charged June 9.

Officers arrest a western Wisconsin woman for her 10th OWI. Lisa White of Saint Croix Falls was pulled over in Barron County early Saturday morning. Officers say they ran a check of the license plate and learned the vehicle was registered to a man whose license had been revoked for an OWI so they stopped the car.
Chucklehead blames hot weather for jumping on motorist’s car hood then pointing a loaded gun at him.
Family and friends of a local man claim he wasn’t feeling well from the heat when he allegedly jumped onto the hood of another driver’s car and then aimed a loaded handgun at him. “It was a hot day,” Sam Pillsbury, owner of Helios Solar Installation in Brentwood, said in defense of his employee and friend, Timothy Gingras.

A man held up a gas station near the Holland Tunnel wielding a gun in one hand and a potato in the other late Sunday, police said in a report in the Jersey Journal. According to the report, the robber entered the Gulf station demanding money.

A 20-year-old man who discovered a handgun in a closet of a Queen Creek-area home on Monday died after he pointed it at his head and shot it when he doubted it was loaded, authorities said. The man, who lived at the residence, was going through the closet of a master bedroom with a teenage boy about 12:30 p.m. when they found a small semi-automatic handgun, according to Lt. Tamatha Villar, spokeswoman for the Pinal County Sheriff’s Office.

A 14-year-old girl had an extraordinary escape today after surviving a plane crash and several hours floating in the Indian Ocean after an airliner plunged into the sea. She was aboard a flight travelling from the Yemeni capital Sanaa, where there had been a change of planes, to the Comoros Islands, a former French colony off the southeast African coast, 190-miles north of the island of Madagascar.

Government experts say the maximum dose listed for Tylenol and dozens of other painkillers should be reduced to help curb deadly overdoses. In a series of votes Tuesday, a Food and Drug Administration panel endorsed lowering the maximum dose of over-the-counter acetaminophen — the key ingredient in Tylenol, Excedrin and other medications.

bird strike caused damage to a plane making an approach at LaGuardia Airport on Tuesday morning. American Airlines Flight 1256 was on it way to New York City from Miami. The plane hit several birds just before landing. The plane was about 900 feet off of the ground.
Genius calls police to report his drugs had been stolen in home invasion robbery.
A man who was bound with duct tape and beaten during a home invasion early Tuesday in the Logan Square neighborhood on the Northwest Side complained to police that the attackers took his drugs. About 2 a.m., the victim, a 30-year-old man who lives in the 2400 block of West McLean Avenue, was in his bedroom when he heard a loud noise, according to Shakespeare District police Capt. Marc Buslik.
