DHS takes action in bungled posting of airport security secrets

The Department of Homeland Security has initiated unspecified personnel actions against individuals involved in the bungled online posting this spring of a government document that revealed airport screening secrets, Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told senators Wednesday morning. A contract employee was responsible for failing to properly redact a 93-page Transportation Security Administration operating manual onto a government procurement Web site, allowing computer users to recover blacked-out information by copying and pasting them into other documents, Napolitano said. TSA supervisors were also involved, Napolitano said. “The security of the traveling public has never been put at risk,” Napolitano assured the Senate Judiciary Committee at an oversight hearing, repeating earlier TSA statements that the document was out of date, never implemented and had been subjected to six revisions after the breach. [One has to wonder why the highly sensitive security procedures for our airports was placed on the internet in the first place whether it was properly redacted or not. Who are the unnamed people responsible for this? Why is Napolitano acting like the information now widely available to anyone with access to the ‘net is no big deal when it is full of procedures terrorists would love to get their hands on? I know, I’ve read the thing…ed]

N.J. fugitive was working for homeland security office in Georgia, authorities say

A New Jersey fugitive wanted on insurance fraud charges since 2007 was working for the immigration division of the Department of Homeland Security in Georgia, despite a nation-wide alert for her arrest, Essex County prosecutors said today. The U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services office in Atlanta was unaware that Tahaya Buchanan, 39, formerly of Newark, was being sought on a 2007 indictment on charges she staged the theft of her Range Rover in Newark for an insurance pay-out, said Paul Loriquet of the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office. Barack Obama to miss most of Nobel Peace Prize events

The US president has turned down an invitation to lunch with the king of Norway, will not hold a press conference nor attend the Nobel concert held in his honour the day after the prize ceremony. Mr Obama is due to arrive in Oslo in the morning and will stay in the Norwegian capital for less than 24 hours. The official Nobel programme is usually spread out over three days. His decision is thought to be fuelled by embarrassment over being given the award so early in his presidency and a wish to avoid a public backlash in the US. But his decision to pull out of parts of large sections of the programme has been taken as a snub in Norway. Polls suggest the Norwegians are deeply unimpressed by his decision not to make more of the visit. [It is my humble opinion that the narcissist Barack Hussein Obama is utterly incapable of feeling embarrassed over anything but yes, he has done absolutely nothing to warrant what has long ago become little more than a joke, the Nobel Peace prize…ed]

Obama Gets Surge In Afghan War Approval, Quinnipiac University National Poll Finds; But Only 26% Of U.S. Voters Say He Deserves Nobel Prize

Public support for the war in Afghanistan is up nine percentage points in the last three weeks, as American voters say 57 – 35 percent that fighting the war is the right thing to do. Approval of President Barack Obama’s handling of the war is up seven points in the same period, from a 38 – 49 percent negative November 18 to a 45 – 45 percent split, according to a Quinnipiac University poll released today. (SNIP) “It’s probably a good thing for President Obama that the time difference from Norway means the Nobel presentation will occur while most Americans are sleeping and might get less coverage in the United States,” Brown added. “Two out of three Americans don’t think he deserves it compared to the quarter who do. Even among Democrats, only 49 percent think he deserves it, compared to 8 percent of Republicans and 19 percent of independent voters. As is the case with many questions related to the President there are wide gender and racial gaps.” Among women, 31 percent think Obama deserves the award, compared to only 19 percent of men. Seventy-three percent of blacks, 29 percent of Hispanics and 18 percent of whites think so. [I would love to hear the reason those 26% think Obama deserves the Nobel prize especially now that he has FINALLY approved an additional 30,000 troops for the Afghanistan war…ed]

Bam’s whiny blame game

The other day, I wrote that President Obama has “run out of both charm and ideas.” I was too kind. To judge from the string of whoppers in his dreary jobs speech yesterday, he’s also run out of facts. And he’s still whining about the problems he inherited and blaming Republicans. He might as well be barking at the moon. That’s sort of what he is doing, because the American people are tuning him out at a stunning pace. The latest Gallup Poll gives him a record low 47 percent approval. Only 26 percent in another poll say he deserves the Nobel Peace Prize. Naturally, his press secretary attacks the pollsters, likening them to children with crayons. And Obama plunges on with his blame-game act. It’s tired, unpresidential and ineffective, all the more so because he’s banking on a bill of goods to prop himself up. [You know sniveling little whiners like Obama who always blame others for everything that happens and never take responsibility for anything that goes wrong. You work with them. You are related to them. You live next door to them. You HATE them, you know you do…ed]

Giant iceberg heading for Australia

The mammoth chunk of ice, which measures 12 miles long and five miles wide, was spotted floating surprisingly close to the mainland by scientists at the Australian Antarctic Division (ADD). Known as B17B, it is currently drifting 1,000 miles from Australia’s west coast and is moving gradually north with the ocean current and prevailing wind. Dr Neal Young, a glaciologist working for the ADD, said that if the iceberg eventually reached Australia waters, it would crash into the continental shelf causing a magnitude three to to four tremor. Copenhagen climate summit: global warming ’caused by sun’s radiation’.

As the world gathered in the Danish capital for the UN Climate Change Conference, more than 50 scientists, businessmen and lobby groups met to discuss the arguments against man made global warming. Although the meeting was considerably smaller than the official gathering of 15,000 people meeting down the road, the organisers claimed it could change the course of negotiations. Professor Henrik Svensmark, a physicist at the Danish National Space Center in Copenhagen, said the recent warming period was caused by solar activity. He said the last time the world experienced such high temperatures, during the medieval warming period, the Sun and the Earth were in a similar cycle. Professor Nils-Axel Morner, a geologist from Stockholm University, said sea level rise has also been exaggerated by the “climate alarmists” using computer models. He said observational data from lake sediments, coast lines and trees show sea levels have remained stable. [Rest assured this little get together of scientists still concerned with REAL science, who have been repeatedly slandered, banned from publication in scientific journals and denied access to grant money, will be completely ignored by the tools in the lamestream media…ed]

Congress, not EPA, should decide on U.S. climate rules

It is good to see Ohio Sen. George Voinovich fighting hard against the Obama administration’s move to impose crippling environmental regulations on American society, while bypassing Congress. On Monday, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency declared it has scientific evidence that greenhouse gases “threatened the public health and welfare of the American people.” It said the pollutants — mainly carbon dioxide from burning fossil fuels — should be reduced, if not by Congress then by the EPA. In other words, the EPA said it should have the authority to impose limits on pollution from cars, power plants and factories, without congressional direction. Voinovich understands what Ohio and other manufacturing states would suffer if greenhouse gas standards are arbitrarily imposed. Voinovich argues that federal mandates limiting emissions “will further hamper our struggling economy, while adding to the cost of fuel and electricity.” [Obama’s attempt to end run the democratic process and try and blackmail Congress into passing the cap and tax nightmare is outrageous…ed]

Czar Obama takes aim at Congress

There are so many deep flaws in the “Endangerment Ruling” announced Monday by President Obama’s Environmental Protection Agency that it is quite possible the worst of them will escape notice. After all, it’s hard to top the drama of the millions of lost jobs and the crippling energy crisis that will result if the agency begins regulating greenhouse gases — mainly CO2. The agency unilaterally awarded itself authority to do just that with the ruling. But even worse will be the terrible damage this ruling will inflict upon one of the most basic of American constitutional pillars, the separation of powers among co-equal branches, in this case the president and Congress. Obama has launched a thermonuclear warhead aimed directly at the very heart of congressional authority. [Three tenths of ONE PERCENT of the CO2 in our atmosphere can be attributed to human activity. The rest is naturally occurring. We’ve Been Had

Last year, my column “Global Warming Rope-A-Dope” (12/24/08) started out: “Americans have been rope-a-doped into believing that global warming is going to destroy the planet. Scientists who have been skeptical about manmade global warming have been called traitors or handmaidens of big oil.” New evidence proves that climatologists and environmental policy advocates have not only fed us lies, engaged in scientific and academic fraud but committed criminal acts as well. Last month, Russian computer hackers obtained thousands of e-mails from the Climate Research Unit (CRU) at the University of East Anglia (UEA) in England. CRU has the world’s largest temperature data set. In collaboration with scientists around the world, including the U.S., its research and mathematical models form the basis of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) 2007 global warming report. [Scott Rasmussen was on Fox NEWS this morning and said only 20% of Americans are paying attention to this global warming scam even though we will all pay dearly if the leftists manage to push their job killing, American quality of life crushing legislation through Congress. Feinstein Says It’s ‘Morally Correct’ to Force Taxpayers to Fund Abortion

Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D.-Calif.) told CNSNews.com that using tax dollars from pro-life Americans to pay for insurance plans that cover abortion is morally correct. The health care bill put before the Senate by Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D.-Nev.) would in fact provide tax dollars to health insurance plans that cover abortion. An amendment to the health care bill sponsored by Sen. Ben Nelson (D.-Neb.) that would have prohibited tax dollars from going to insurance plans that cover abortion was defeated yesterday. [I have noticed these people in favor of abortion are all alive. Every one of them. And now that I think about it, I say it’s morally correct that tax dollars be taken from the anti gun crowd to fund the purchase of firearms and ammunition for those who wish to own same. Dems reach deal to drop gov’t-run plan

After days of secret talks, Senate Democrats tentatively agreed Tuesday night to drop a full-blown government-run insurance option from sweeping health care legislation, several officials said, a concession to party moderates whose votes are critical to passage of President Barack Obama’s top domestic priority. In its place, officials said Democrats had tentatively settled on a private insurance arrangement to be supervised by the federal agency that oversees the system through which lawmakers purchase coverage, with the possibility of greater government involvement if needed to ensure consumers of sufficient choices in coverage. [Don’t believe the headline for a second folks! The Democrooks simply left open “the possibility of greater government involvement if needed to ensure consumers of sufficient choices in coverage” which means if a federal agency stocked to the gills with liberals arbitrarily decides private insurance companies are making “too much profit” and “screwing the consumer” they will then quickly step in with the government run program they wanted all along…ed]

As Long as Harry Reid Raises the Subject…

Harry Reid’s comments on the Senate floor yesterday likening opponents of the Democrats’ health care legislation to proponents of slavery were inexcusable. Just to set the record straight: The Democratic Party vehemently opposed the abolition of slavery, Reconstruction, and black suffrage. Today, the Democratic Party aggressively pursues an enslavement platform through socialist ideology. One cause of the Civil War was the contrasting economic philosophies between the North and the South. Northern Republicans embraced free-market economic principles while Southern Democrats embraced a labor-based economy reliant upon slavery for its existence. Formed in the mid-1850s, the Republican Party plank called for the immediate abolition of slavery in the southern states, while the Democratic Party plank explicitly called for a continuation of slavery. [The AmericanThinker.com post of the day. Democrats realize most Americans are clueless when it comes to historical facts. Almost 500 people have adverse reaction to swine flu vaccine

Almost 500 people have developed suspected adverse reactions from the swine flu vaccine, new figures show. At least 300,000 doses of the vaccine have been administered to date, but no serious safety issues have yet been identified, according to the Irish Medicines Board (IMB). The most frequent adverse reactions have been fever, nausea, headache and allergic effects. These reports are consistent with the expected pattern of adverse reactions for the vaccines, according to the board. The two versions of the vaccine – GlaxoSmithKline’s Pandemrix and Baxter’s Celvapan vaccine – have attracted similar numbers of suspected adverse reactions. The IMB says the balance of risks and benefits for both vaccines remain positive. [Betcha these folks would just as soon have come down with the damn flu and dealt with it for a couple of days…ed]

Mark Penn’s two firms got $6 million from stimulus for PR campaign

Nearly $6 million in stimulus money was paid to two firms run by Mark Penn, Hillary Clinton’s pollster in 2008. Federal records show that $5.97 million from the $787 billion stimulus helped preserve three jobs at Burson-Marsteller, the global public-relations and communications firm headed by Penn. Burson-Marsteller won the contract to work on a public-relations campaign to advertise the national switch from analog to digital television. Nearly $2.8 million of the contract was issued to Penn’s polling firm, Penn, Schoen & Berland Associates, according to federal records. Federal records also show that a former adviser to President Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential campaign received nearly $70,000 from that contract to help alert viewers in difficult-to-reach communities that their televisions would soon no longer receive broadcast signals. [Anyone who has been paying attention knows this bogus “stimulus bill” was nothing more than a Democrat party slush fund administered from within the Obama administration and this article is further proof of that…ed]

The Racism of the Black Community

According to allies of President Obama, all opposition to Obama’s policies is driven by racism. “We think all of it is!” shouts Gwen Dawkins, a Democratic “activist” from Michigan. Rep. Eddie Bernice Johnson (D-Texas) explains that “As far as African-Americans are concerned, we think most of it is.” Rep. Mike Honda (D-Calif.) agrees, stating that “There’s a very angry, small group of folks that just didn’t like the fact that Barack Obama won the presidency. With some, I think it is [about race].” As Jimmy Carter famously stated, “I think an overwhelming portion of the intensely demonstrated animosity toward President Barack Obama is based on the fact that he is a black man, that he’s African-American.” Apparently, racism must be spreading like wildfire. According to a Gallup poll released this week, only 47 percent of Americans now approve of President Obama’s job performance. (SNIP) It’s the racism of the black community that explains his approval rating’s continued buoyancy. [Who are the TRULY prejudiced among us you wonder? U.S. Rep. Joe Barton’s anti-BCS bill passes House subcommittee

College football fans aching for a playoff system won a small victory Wednesday, when a House Energy and Commerce subcommittee passed a bill aimed at bringing down the Bowl Championship Series. The bill, sponsored by Rep. Joe Barton, R-Arlington, is not the BCS-destroying solution envisioned by millions of college football fans. But if it were to eventually become law, it would turn up the pressure on the BCS by preventing the group from calling its title game a “national championship game” unless it was the result of a playoff system. Dems Vote to Allow Federal Funding for Corrupt ACORN

Last night, defying the will of a bipartisan majority of the House and Senate, Democrats voted to allow the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now (ACORN) to receive federal taxpayer dollars. In September, large Congressional majorities in both houses voted to sever all ties between the federal government and ACORN. The Senate vote was 85-11; the House vote was 345-75. You’d think that those votes, which USA Today described as prohibiting “any federal funding for the community organizing group,” would have settled the matter. You’d be wrong. Months later, with the country’s focus on jobs, healthcare, and the Global War on Terror, Democrats are moving to restore funding to ACORN. Last night, Rep. Tom Latham (R-IA) offered an amendment during deliberations on the Democrats’ massive year-end appropriations bill to clarify the prohibition on federal funds going to ACORN or its subsidiaries. That amendment was shot down on a 5-9 party line vote as Republicans sided with taxpayers while Democrats stood with ACORN. Obama’s risky-sex czar

WARNING: This editorial includes discussion of topics that are sexually graphic. Under usual circumstances, we would never entertain these subjects or the rancid language involved. (SNIP) The Obama administration is stonewalling serious inquiries about sexual filth propagated by a senior presidential appointee who is responsible for promoting and implementing federal education policy. Democrats clearly are terrified of ruffling the feathers of their activist homosexual supporters, who are an influential part of the Democratic party’s base. This scandal, however, is not merely about homosexual behavior; it is about promoting sex between children and adults – and it’s time for President Obama to make clear that abetting such illegal perversion has no place in his administration. Exploding Chewing Gum Blows Off College Student’s Jaw

A chemistry student in the Ukraine was found dead with his jaw blown off by what is believed to be exploding chewing gum, according to reports. The 25-year-old’s disfigured remains were discovered at his parent’s home in the northern Ukrainian city of Konotop, reports in the Eastern European country said. The young man, who studied at Kiev Polytechnic Institute, was working at a computer late on Saturday when the alleged explosion happened. “A loud pop was heard from the student’s room,” the ukranews.com Web site said, citing an aide to the city’s police chief. “When his relatives entered the room, they saw that the lower part of the young man’s face had been blown off.” A forensic examination established that the chewing gum was covered with an unidentified chemical substance, thought to be some type of explosive material. I think George W. Bush has a warm, engaging personality. But, you know, the presidency is more than just a popularity contest.
