Afghan soldier shoots dead two American troops
An Afghan soldier on guard at a joint base with U.S. troops shot dead two American servicemen and wounded two others as they slept, a provincial official said on Saturday. Shahedullah Shahed, spokesman for the governor of Wardak province west of Kabul, said the shooting took place after a combined team of Afghan and U.S. forces had returned from a joint operation late on Friday. “The Americans were in the middle of sleep when an Afghan soldier on duty opened fire on them,” Shahed said. [Gutless bastard kills and wounds four of our guys while they sleep. Typical behavior for these taliban animals. Meltdown 101: Unemployment by the numbers
If the recession really is ending, someone forgot to tell the nation’s employers. A net total of 263,000 jobs vanished from the economy last month — much worse than economists’ expectation of 180,000 job losses. The Labor Department figures set the stage for a scenario that labor analysts expect: that joblessness will continue to rise for several months or more after the economy starts to rebound. The unemployment rate stands at 9.8 percent, a 26-year high. The rate would have been higher if 571,000 people hadn’t dropped out of the labor force, which many did in frustration over failing to find jobs. That leaves 15.1 million Americans out of work, a huge pool of people. Many discouraged workers are likely to re-enter the labor market and compete for jobs that will eventually be created. [The “real” unemployment rate is close to 17% right now and will continue to rise in the foreseeable future. For every job opening available there are at least six people fighting for it. Kinda makes one wish for the good old 5.5% unemployment rate of the George W. Bush years…ed]
Obama’s Olympic failure will only add to doubts about his presidency
There has been a growing narrative taking hold about Barack Obama’s presidency in recent weeks: that he is loved by many, but feared by none; that he is full of lofty vision, but is actually achieving nothing with his grandiloquence. Chicago’s dismal showing yesterday, after Mr Obama’s personal, impassioned last-minute pitch, is a stunning humiliation for this President. It cannot be emphasised enough how this will feed the perception that on the world stage he looks good — but carries no heft. [Øbama, the personification of the term “empty suit.” What was that loud sound we just heard? Why, that would be Øbama’s enormous ego bubble bursting on the world stage…ed]
Did anti-American resentments play role in Chicago’s bid losing?
Some Chicago officials say anti-American resentments likely played a role in Chicago’s Olympic bid dying in the first round today. President Obama could not undo in one year the resentment against America that President Bush and others built up for decades before, they said. “There must be” resentment against America, the Rev. Jesse Jackson said, near the stage where he had hoped to give a victory speech in Daley Plaza. “The way we [refused to sign] the Kyoto Treaty, we mislead the world into Iraq. The world had a very bad taste in its mouth about us. But there was such a turnaround after last November. The world now feels better about America and about Americans. That’s why I thought the president’s going was the deal-maker.” [Nothing funnier than watching these pathetic leftists try and spin Øbama’s Olympic bitch-slap-heard-round-the-world into Bush’s fault…ed]
A credible source claims the embattled left-wing advocacy group ACORN is poised to announce massive staff layoffs but an ACORN spokesman denies this is the case. A credible source close to the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now revealed that the activist network intends to lay off all staff members operating out of its New Orleans headquarters. All information provided by the source to this reporter in the past has turned out to be correct. However, ACORN spokesman Scott Levenson of the public relations firm The Advance Group in New York City said the source was incorrect. In an interview Friday afternoon with Levenson said (referring to BigGovernment.com), “You guys just can’t get it right. You’re wrong again.” [This massive group of crooked bums are far too important to the Democrats for them to just let ACORN fold up the tent and go away. Probe finds Houston a magnet for cartels
After a police officer and his son found a floating trunk stuffed with a headless torso while fishing in Galveston Bay six years ago, it didn’t take long for authorities to figure out the dead man was the Houston captain of a Texas gang aligned with Mexico’s Sinaloa Cartel. On his back, his name was tattooed in Old English script. On his hip, was inked a likeness of a .45-caliber handgun, the sure-fire call sign for a gang whose Spanish name translates as Brotherhood of Latino Gunmen. [You folks who live in the Houston area, stock up accordingly and keep your powder dry. It’s just a matter of time before these scumbags will be shooting it out in your neighborhood…ed]

Obama’s silence on Chicago crime
When his stint in the White House is over, President Obama might just learn that Thomas Wolfe was right. You can’t go home again. Back in Obama’s adopted hometown of Chicago, Illinois, some members of the black community are incensed at the president for not personally speaking out about the murder of Derrion Albert, a 16-year-old boy who was beaten to death last week in a predominantly African-American neighborhood. What really set them off was that Obama, in an awkward case of bad timing, instead flew to Copenhagen to pitch Chicago to the International Olympics Committee as the ideal city to host the games in 2016. FBI Director: Al Qaeda-Linked Somali Group Could Attack U.S.
They could strike the United States. That grim assessment is the first time the FBI director or any other senior law enforcement or intelligence official has stated on the record that the Al Qaeda-linked group al-Shabaab is no longer content to strike within the East African nation of Somalia. During a hearing on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, FBI Director Robert Mueller was asked if members of al-Shabaab, which translates as “mujahideen youth,” would send American recruits back to the U.S. to launch attacks. (SNIP) Mueller said he is “absolutely” concerned that Americans who traveled to Somalia to train as terrorists would have U.S. legal status and would therefore be able to return to the United States and carry out attacks. The only footage of Anne Frank hits the Net
It’s silent, in black and white, and only 20 seconds long, but the only known film footage of Anne Frank has already had an international impact since hitting the Internet Wednesday. Shot on July 22 1941 – almost exactly a year before the Frank family went into hiding – the film captures the wedding day of the girl who “lived on the second floor at Merwedeplein 39. Making the World Safe for Medicaid Fraud
Americans expect to show a photo ID when they board a plane, enter many office buildings, cash a check or even rent a video — but rarely in voting or applying for government benefits such as Medicaid. Many Democrats seem to view asking citizens for proof of identity as an invasion of privacy — though what’s really being protected is the right to commit identity fraud. Exhibit A is Tuesday’s 13 to 10 party-line vote in the Senate Finance Committee rejecting a proposal to require that immigrants prove their identity when signing up for federal health care programs. [The Democrats are simply protecting another segment of their constituency, those in this country illegally. Sen. Thomas Carper (D.-Del.), a member of the Senate Finance Committee, told CNSNews.com that he does not “expect” to read the actual legislative language of the committee’s health care bill because it is “confusing” and that anyone who claims they are going to read it and understand it is fooling people. “I don’t expect to actually read the legislative language because reading the legislative language is among the more confusing things I’ve ever read in my life,” Carper told CNSNews.com. GM’s US sales crash 45 percent in September
General Motors saw US sales crash in September, falling 45 percent in the wake of the expiration of the popular government-funded “Cash for Clunkers” program, the automaker said Thursday. GM said weak consumer confidence and extremely low inventory also hit sales. “September was a tough transitional month for the industry, and a difficult year-over-year comparison for GM,” said Mark LaNeve, vice president for GM’s US sales. Brown and Sarkozy rowed with Obama over Iranian nuclear announcement
The President is believed to have angered the European leaders by insisting on delaying a joint press conference until after he had chaired a meeting of the UN Security Council. Mr Obama is said to have been worried the announcement would undermine the impact of his session on nuclear non-proliferation. Details of the disagreement appeared to explain why Mr Brown and Mr Sarkozy, the French president, took a harder line on Iran than the American leader at the meeting. The Prime Minister said it was time “to draw a line in the sand” on Tehran’s nuclear programme while the Frenchman mocked Mr Obama for the naivety of his “dreams” of eliminating nuclear weapons. Medical Premiums Could Still Be a ‘Heavy Lift’
Many middle-class Americans would still struggle to pay for health insurance despite efforts by President Barack Obama and Democrats to make coverage more affordable. The legislation advancing in Congress would require all Americans to get insurance — through an employer, a government program or by buying it themselves. But new tax credits to help with premiums won’t go far enough for everyone. Some middle-class families purchasing their own coverage through new insurance exchanges could find it out of reach. Lawmakers recognize the problem. “For some people it’s going to be a heavy lift,” said Sen. Tom Carper, D-Del. “We’re doing our best to make sure it’s not an impossible lift.” Added Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine: “We have no certainty as to whether or not these plans are going to be affordable.” Both are on the Senate Finance Committee, which finished writing a health care bill on Friday. It’s Time for the American Capitalist Party
It’s time for a party that actually affirms what most Americans believe in. With Democrats pushing forward with a return to big government and Republicans speeding down the path toward irrelevance by becoming the party of “no,” it’s time for a party that actually affirms what most Americans believe in. It’s time for the American Capitalist Party. Okay, so maybe the name could be revised or improved (suggestions welcome!), but, folks, there can be no question that the needs of We the People, We the Electorate, We the Target Market are simply not being met by the two main parties. Quote of the day.
Israel was not created in order to disappear – Israel will endure and flourish. It is the child of hope and the home of the brave. It can neither be broken by adversity nor demoralized by success. It carries the shield of democracy and it honors the sword of freedom.
