Obama’s Policies Would Redistribute Nearly $1 Trillion in Wealth Every Year
By 2012, nearly $1 trillion from the top 30 percent of American families will be redistributed among the bottom 70 percent if Obama’s proposals on taxes, health care, and climate change become law, according to the Tax Foundation. “Even if none of Obama’s policies becomes law, the extent of income redistribution is remarkable,” Scott Hodge, president of the nonpartisan, nonprofit organization, said. “The top-earning 40 percent of families will transfer $826 billion to the bottom 60 percent in 2012.” Under the Obama plan, 70 percent of American families as a group — those earning less than $109,460 — will receive more in benefits than they pay in taxes, Hodge said. “The majority of people below the 70 percent mark will get more back than they pay in taxes,” Hodge told CNSNews.com. U.S. rethinks plans to give Libya $2.5 million in aid
The U.S. State Department said it is rethinking a decision to give $2.5 million in aid to Libya, including to foundations run by the Libyan leader’s sons, after lawmakers on Thursday asked it to cancel the plan. In a letter to U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, two U.S. lawmakers said they were unwilling to give the aid because of the warm reception Tripoli recently gave a Libyan official convicted of involvement in the 1988 Lockerbie bombing. They also accused Libyan leader Col. Muammar Gaddafi of showing “flagrant disrespect” for the 270 victims of the bombing during his visit to New York this week to attend the U.N. General Assembly. Translator collapsed during Khadafy’s rambling diatribe
After struggling to turn Khadafy’s insane ramblings at the UN into English for 75 minutes, the Libyan dictator’s personal interpreter got lost in translation. “I just can’t take it any more,” Khadafy’s interpreter shouted into the live microphone – in Arabic. VENEZUELAN President Hugo Chavez said he no longer detected devil’s “sulfur” in the United States, but the smell of “hope”. The Latin American strongman famously called then-president George W Bush the “devil” during the annual meeting of the United Nations in 2006 and said that Mr Bush left the UN podium stinking of sulfur. But in his speech this year, Mr Chavez went out of his way to embrace President Barack Obama, even urging him to follow Venezuelan-style socialism. “Yesterday he spoke here and it no longer smells of sulfur. YouTube Caught Red-handed Cooking Stats for Obama
News aggregator DrudgeReport.com is currently linking to a YouTube video (left) of a government schoolteacher instructing young students to praise Obama in song. While this is shocking, there is an even bigger story here. Consider this: the video’s “views” counter listed only 363 views as of 1:04 p.m. EST on Sept. 24. But at the same time it had 2,279 comments. What’s wrong with this picture? Obviously, those figures should in the least be reversed. After all, since the number of comments on high-traffic YouTube videos generally represents only one-half of one percent to three percent of the total views, we can estimate that the Obama worship video had in excess of 200,000 hits at the time. But what accounts for this? Is it a technical glitch? I doubt it. But why would YouTube cook the statistical books? [I’m sure youtube has looked at every angle they could to try and pull this video down but alas it hit the mainstream in a flash and has spread like wildfire. Gore-Backed Car Firm Gets Large U.S. Loan
A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000. The award this week to California startup Fisker Automotive Inc. follows a $465 million government loan to Tesla Motors Inc., purveyors of a $109,000 British-built electric Roadster. Tesla, like Fisker, is a California startup focusing on high-end hybrids, with a number of celebrity endorsements that is backed by investors that have contributed to Democratic campaigns. Democrats Are Jarred by Drop In Fundraising
Democratic political committees have seen a decline in their fundraising fortunes this year, a result of complacency among their rank-and-file donors and a de facto boycott by many of their wealthiest givers, who have been put off by the party’s harsh rhetoric about big business. The trend is a marked reversal from recent history, in which Democrats have erased the GOP’s long-standing fundraising advantage. In the first six months of 2009, Democratic campaign committees’ receipts have dropped compared with the same period two years earlier. The vast majority of those declines were accounted for by the absence of large donors who, strategists say, have shut their checkbooks in part because Democrats have heightened their attacks on the conduct of major financial firms and set their sights on rewriting the laws that regulate their behavior. On a conference call today, Vice President Biden told 30 of the nation’s governors that if the Recovery Act fails, he’s “dead.” Biden was providing an update to the governors (and if they couldn’t make it, their Lt. Governor or senior staffer) on the Recovery Act and make sure they were prepared to submit reports next month detailing how stimulus money was spent and how many jobs were created by the funding. Missouri Gov. Jay Nixon (D) told the Vice President he couldn’t express how much he and his fellow governors appreciate Biden’s interest. “Pure self-interest, Jay. If it fails, I’m dead,” Biden quipped. [What’s this “if” bullshit? It’s already a miserable failure. Most parents won’t have kids get H1N1 flu shots, study finds
Germ-spreading schoolchildren are expected to be the focus of a massive U.S. vaccination campaign against the novel H1N1 flu. But if their parents are hearing the rallying cry to have their kids vaccinated, they’re not buying it, says a new national survey. In a poll of 1,678 U.S. parents conducted by the University of Michigan’s C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital, 40% said they would get their children immunized against the H1N1 virus — even as 54% indicated they would get their kids vaccinated against regular seasonal flu. Among those who said they do not intend to have their kids vaccinated against H1N1, almost half — 46% — indicated they’re not worried about their children becoming ill with the pandemic virus. Twenty percent said they do not believe the H1N1 flu is a serious disease. Senate kills bid to make White House czars accountable
A proposed amendment that would have given Congress more oversight over the White House cybersecurity czar and at least 17 other czars appointed by President Obama was shut down in the U.S. Senate today. The amendment, proposed by Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), sought to restrict federal funds for the expenses of White House-appointed czars unless two conditions are met. One of them was to require the president to agree that every czar would respond to “reasonable requests” to testify before Congress on matters related to the office. The other required White House-appointed czars to issue a report to Congress twice a year. The proposed amendment was in an Interior Department environmental appropriations bill on the Senate floor. [Unvetted, unaccountable and unconfirmed radical leftists have invaded the Øbama administration effectively nullifying Senate confirmed Cabinet members leaving these people as nothing more than mere figureheads and the Democrats in Congress think this is just fine by them. Ill. man held in alleged truck bomb plot
A 29-year-old Illinois man has been arrested on charges of planning to detonate a truck bomb to blow up a federal building in Springfield, authorities said. Michael C. Finton, who also goes by Talib Islam and aspired to be a “jihadist fighter,” drove a truck he believed carried nearly a ton of explosives Wednesday to the Paul Findley Federal Building and Courthouse in Springfield, the state capital, federal authorities said. Finton, of Decatur, Ill., then got into a waiting car with an undercover FBI agent and, when the car got a few blocks away from the building, used a cell phone to try to set off explosives, authorities said. The truck contained inactive explosives and Finton was arrested immediately after allegedly trying to detonate them.
