Eight years ago today, our homeland was attacked by fanatical Muslims inspired by Saudi Arabian bigotry. Three thousand American citizens and residents died. We resolved that we, the People, would never forget. Then we forgot. We’ve learned nothing. (SNIP) Instead of acknowledging that radical Islam is the problem, we elected a president who blames America, whose idea of freedom is the right for women to suffer in silence behind a veil — and who counts among his mentors and friends those who damn our country or believe that our own government staged the tragedy of September 11, 2001. Democratic leaders plan to admonish Wilson for insult if he won’t apologize to Congress
Democratic leaders are planning to vote early next week to admonish Republican Rep. Joe Wilson if he does not apologize on the House floor for yelling “You lie!” at President Barack Obama. Brendan Daly, a spokesman for House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, said party leaders decided at a meeting Thursday that they will likely move forward with a resolution of disapproval against Wilson absent another apology. Rep. Wilson Outburst Leads Senate Dems to Close Loophole in Health Reform Bill
The apologies are out of the way and the offense forgiven. But the underlying policy argument remains, after a Congressman drew fire from both sides of the aisle for his outburst during President Obama’s speech Wednesday. Rep. Joe Wilson, R-S.C., was criticized for interrupting Obama’s address to a joint session of Congress to accuse the president of lying about his health care reform plan prohibiting coverage for illegal immigrants. Wilson quickly apologized, and the White House accepted the apology. [Joe Wilson was right on the money calling Obama a liar and everybody knows it…ed]
Perry: Ranger teams to go to Texas-Mexico border
Special teams of Texas Rangers will be deployed to the Texas-Mexico border to deal with increasing violence because the federal government has failed to address growing problems there, Gov. Rick Perry said Thursday. “It is an expansive effort with the Rangers playing a more high-profile role than they’ve ever played before,” Perry said of the Department of Public Safety’s elite investigative unit. The forces, dubbed “Ranger recon” teams, are the latest effort “to fill the gap that’s been left by the federal government’s ongoing failure to adequately secure our international border with Mexico,” he said. Federal judge allows Obama eligibility case to go forward
On Sept. 8, U.S. District Court Judge David O. Carter ordered a scheduling conference for Oct. 5, 2009, allowing the Obama eligibility case filed by Dr. Orly Taitz, Esq. on behalf Captain Pamela Barnett, Alan Keyes and others to proceed. Carter wrote, “The responsibility for the progress of litigation in the federal courts falls not only upon attorneys in the action, but upon the court as well. Accordingly, the court issues this order.” Taitz filed a declaration of Lucas Daniel Smith with an exhibit on Friday. Smith, a 29-year-old American citizen from Iowa, signed an affidavit, under penalty of perjury, stating he “traveled to Kenya and Mombasa, in particular, with the intent to obtain the original birth certificate of Barack Hussein Obama,” as he was told previously it was on file in the hospital and under seal, due to the fact the Kenyan Prime Minister is Obama’s cousin. [Taitz is a pit bull. Once she grabbed onto this issue she sunk her teeth in and refuses to let go. This birth certificate is a rather interesting piece what with the footprint…ed]
Start with a clean slate on healthcare. Include Republicans in the process. Act like you were listening to the American people who showed up in droves at August town hall meetings on healthcare. Do something, Mr. President, to illustrate you are more committed to the American people than to a political victory. The majority of Americans are unhappy with the manner in which President Barack Obama has handled healthcare reform — 52 percent, according to a new Associated Press poll. Not one Republican in Congress supports any of the bills out of the various committees in the House and Senate. And Obama arrogantly shut out all Republicans, avoiding meetings with GOP leaders regarding healthcare legislation since April. Afghanistan Buys $4.2 M. Trump Condo
The Permanent Mission of Afghanistan to the United Nations has a lovely new apartment. According to two deeds filed Friday, the group spent $4,235,000 on a 2,840-square-foot apartment at Trump World Tower, plus a $5.4 million commercial space at 633 Third Avenue. H.E. Zahir Tanin, whose title is Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary, Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan to the United Nations, is listed in the deeds. I woke up this morning with a song on my lips. Well, not exactly a song — more like a tune, a song without words. I’m sure you know it. It goes something like this: ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-HUH . . . ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh . . . ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-HUH . . . ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh-ha-huh . . . I’m referring, of course, to the music of His Serene Highness, the Emperor Barack Hussein Obama II, who after a brief two-week absence from the national scene that more or less coincided with the beginning of Ramadan brought his road-show version of Chicago to a joint session of Congress Wednesday night. They say you can go to the well once too often, but as far as BO2 is concerned, you can never go too often to the well of the Senate or the House. Texas school district turns away students from Mexico
For years, children from Ciudad Acuna, Mexico, have attended schools across the border in Del Rio, Texas, but this week that changed for students who cannot prove residency. The local school superintendent imposed new regulations to stem what he said is a long-standing problem for the district. “I have seen van loads of kids with plates from Coahuila State (in Mexico) pulling in front of the school,” San Felipe Del Rio School Superintendent Kelt Cooper told CNN. “Everyone knows what is going on. It’s real blatant.” Cooper, who joined the district 11 months ago, previously was superintendent in the border town of Nogales, Arizona, where he had to deal with similar circumstances. There, he remembered, he once had 32 students with the same home address. When district officials checked, the property was a vacant lot. [A Texas school district grows a pair. How refreshing!…ed]
Anti-abortion activist shot in front of Owosso High School
State police at the Corunna post have confirmed a well-known anti-abortion activist was shot multiple times and killed this morning in front of Owosso High School. The victim’s identity has not yet been released but the shooting occurred around 7:30 a.m., after most students were off the buses and safely inside the building, said Owosso schools transportation supervisor Jayne Campbell. State police also confirmed that a suspect was taken into custody about 8:15 a.m. at the suspect’s home. U.N. Lawyers Target U.S. Troops
As if fighting a war in Afghanistan isn’t hard enough, ambitious global prosecutors have rolled into Kabul looking to charge U.S. troops. Intentional or not, such legalism will sap U.S. morale as it did in Vietnam. At about the time NATO’s new secretary-general, Anders Fogh Rasmussen, warned NATO’s European members against an early pullout, Luis Moreno-Ocampo, the top prosecutor of the International Criminal Court, whose body is charged with looking for international war criminals, announced he was looking for new “clients” from anyone with a grievance in Afghanistan. On Wednesday night a broad chunk of the American left, and an overlapping circle of media commentators, got what they’d been aching for since the beginning of August: A presidential bitch-slap of the lying liars who’ve been, in the words of stereotypical L.A. Times columnist Tim Rutten, “crowding out nearly all substantive and realistic discussion of the critical issues surrounding healthcare reform.” “But know this,” President Barack Obama said in one of several such satisfying passages in his health care speech last night. “I will not stand by while the special interests use the same old tactics to keep things exactly the way they are. If you misrepresent what’s in the plan, we will call you out.” [“The president pushes back against health care misinformation, then spreads a bunch of his own”…ed]
Americans Aren’t Buying What Obama Has To Sell
More prescient words were never spoken by a politician than Barack Obama’s to the American people Wednesday evening on the issue of health care reform: “I am not the first President to take up this cause, but I am determined to be the last.” For 60 years, Democrats have been trying to force a government health care system on a deeply skeptical American public, without success. And if President Obama fails this time, it’s unlikely we’ll see another attempt anytime soon. But despite the president’s recriminations, he has only himself to blame. Add another Obama insult to injury on 9-11. First, he desecrated the memory of 9-11 with his planned proclamation of his mandatory civilian service on 9-11, which he has designated a “National Day of Service.” And now 9-11 has yet another title: State Department personnel are supposed to pray with Muslims on the newly declared “Interfaith Day of Service,” whatever that means on 9-11. September 11, which should be a somber day of mourning and reflection (on how the hell we got here), will be a day when Obama — in a celebratory mode — makes his big announcement. The whole thing is depraved. And yes, it really is mandatory. [Take your mandatory service bullshit and Rahm it up your Emanuel Obama…ed]
Foreign Secretary David Miliband yesterday criticised kidnapped journalist Stephen Farrell for ignoring ‘very strong advice’ not to travel to the region where he was seized by militants. Mr Miliband was instrumental in approving the pre-dawn special forces raid on Wednesday which freed Mr Farrell but left his Afghan interpreter Sultan Munadi, and paratrooper Corporal John Harrison dead. But today the Foreign Secretary appeared to distance himself from the decision by acknowledging the concerns of those who have criticised the decision to free Mr Farrell when he had apparently courted danger. Obama Administration: US Has Overinvested In Oil, Gas
The Obama administration opened a new front in its effort to impose $31.5 billion in taxes on oil and gas companies, saying that the nation puts too much emphasis on oil and gas at the expense of other industries. The chief economist in the Obama administration’s Treasury Department testified before a Senate panel that current subsidies “lead to overinvestment” in the oil and gas industry. That went beyond previous statements about the need to protect taxpayers and was the clearest signal yet that the federal government hopes to end its role in nurturing domestic oil and gas production. Support for Suicide Bombings and Bin Laden Still High Among Some Muslims
A new survey gauging Muslim attitudes indicates that backing for suicide bombings against civilians, while generally down from earlier years, remains significant in some Islamic countries – challenging the assertion that Muslims supporting terrorism constitute a “tiny minority.” In the Pew Global Attitudes Project poll released on Thursday, 68 percent of Palestinian Muslim respondents said suicide bombings against civilians were justifiable “to defend Islam from its enemies.” [Put that in your pipe and smoke it all of you lame ass Islam apologists…ed]
