Spokane Police say they have busted a man, allegedly the mastermind behind a meat theft ring. Police say Christopher Webber sold stolen, uncooked meat that had been unrefrigerated for hours to people in bars, and was caught on surveillance video several times. According to detectives, over the past three years Webber went to local grocery stores, and loaded up with various kinds of meat.

A woman who agreed to be sexually and physically assaulted to help her lawsuit against a former employer pleaded guilty Thursday to a federal conspiracy charge. Lindsey D. Crawford, 23, of Kansas City, admitted in U.S. District Court that she conspired to commit wire fraud with two other people by staging an attack last November at her home in Waldo. White House spokeswoman Katie McCormick-Lelyveld said Thursday that tests on the soil in the White House garden detected lead levels of 93 parts per million. When a methamphetamine lab caught fire inside an upper-floor unit at Fox Ridge Apartments on Tuesday, nine people ran, police said. A 10th person, who was in a wheelchair, was left to fend for herself. A neighbor eventually helped the woman escape the blaze, which started at about 11:50 p.m. and spread quickly through the building at 1509 Alamo Hills Drive, said Capt. His daughter was among the children in the shed. “That lady’s going to hate me when she sees me,” the 31-year-old father said about one of the day care center’s owners. “Lock ’em up.” The children — locked in the storage shed with gasoline, lawn equipment and insecticides — appear to be unharmed, Sealy police said.
An elderly woman may have lain dead in her flat for five years even though she was in a city centre and surrounded by neighbours.
