The 43-year-old father-of-five faces a maximum of 30 years in jail and is on suicide watch after handing himself in to his colleagues following Saturday’s attack, according to officials involved in the inquiry.
A Memphis woman accused of throwing a 2-month-old boy at a Wal-Mart security guard who suspected her of shoplifting faces child abuse and assault charges, police said Monday. Camilla Fields, 26, is charged with one felony count of child abuse and neglect and one count of assault. She reportedly swung a car seat holding an infant at a security guard last Wednesday, after he accused her of stealing from the Wal-Mart at 3950 Austin Peay.
The 4-year-old daughter of legendary boxer Mike Tyson is in critical condition after a family member found her hanging from a cord. Monday around 10:30 a.m., Phoenix Police and paramedics were called out to Tyson’s home in the 6100 block of 10th Ave in Phoenix on reports of an unresponsive child.
State troopers have arrested two people suspected of damaging at least 14 vehicles by throwing baseball-sized rocks onto them from a railroad trestle over Interstate 5 as a part of a stripping game. Washington State Patrol Trooper Guy Gill said 23-year-old Joshua N. Sizemore and 18-year-old Amanda L. Madison were tossing large rocks from the trestle near Bridgeport way about midnight.
Police say a City of Elkhart police officer was arrested for operating a vehicle while intoxicated after he was involved in an accident late Sunday along County Line Road. Officer Benjamin Kruszynski, 38, crashed an Elkhart City squad car into a tree near the intersection of Brummitt and Ash roads about 11:10 p.m. There were four passengers in the car at the time — a 43-year-old male and three 18-year-old females, according to police.

Worried employees looked out the window of the Manhattan store while talking on the phone as the bees clustered Saturday afternoon. A Conroe High School football player was killed less than a week shy of graduation in a crash police said may have resulted from street racing and in which a teammate was driving. Jordan Wilson, 17, who had been accepted into the U.S. Air Force Academy, was a passenger in a car that was traveling more than 100 mph when it crashed on the shoulder of a dark, curving road, Conroe Police Lt. Robert Yetter said Monday.

The California Supreme Court has upheld a voter-approved ban on same-sex marriage, but it also decided that the estimated 18,000 gay couples who tied the knot before the law took effect will stay wed. The decision Tuesday rejected an argument by gay rights activists that the ban revised the California constitution’s equal protection clause to such a dramatic degree that it first needed the Legislature’s approval.
Smoke from huge tire fire envelops east Texas town.
Officials are meeting in Hawkins this morning to put a plan of action into motion following the outbreak of a huge tire fire that has blanketed much of the city in thick smoke. The mayor of Hawkins has warned residents with breathing problems, to leave. Hawkins schools are canceled. People are urged to go inside and keep their windows closed. A dump that contains an estimated 300,000 tires caught on fire last night and is blanketing much of the town with thick smoke.
A girl of three who fell into a coma after getting meningitis stunned her mum when she came round – singing Abba hit Mamma Mia. Layla Towsey was so ill after getting the brain bug she had been put on a life support machine and her mum had kissed her goodbye.
