Suspect in vandalism leftist, not Republican
A suspect in a case of vandalism at the Colorado Democratic headquarters was once a paid campaign worker for a Democratic candidate for the legislature, despite the state party chief having blamed hate-fomented opposition to Democratic health care plans. Maurice Schwenkler, 24, was arrested in Denver on Tuesday on a charge of criminal mischief after windows were smashed at the Democratic offices. Many of the windows displayed posters supporting health care reform. “We ought to be having a serious, conscientious debate about what’s best for the country,” state Democratic Party Chairwoman Pat Waak said Tuesday. “Clearly, there’s been an effort on the other side to stir up hate. I think this is the consequence of it.” [I smelled a ‘RAT right off the bat when I first heard about this incident and you know the lamestream media, after initially reporting the vandalism, will not perform any kind of follow up…ed]
Students’ take-home assignment: Census kits
Anyone tempted to ignore the 2010 Census will have a tough time doing it — especially if they have kids in school. The government has launched Census in Schools, an all-out campaign targeting superintendents, principals, teachers, students and, indirectly, parents, as schools open across the nation this month and next. The message: The Census is coming and here’s why everyone should care. [Around my house the adults have always been in charge, not the kids. But then again we do have a lot of “linguistically isolated” (read illegal aliens) people living in this country that the Democrats are desperate to include in the upcoming census…ed]
Obama’s 09 deficit exceeds all eight years of Bush red ink
How much is President Obama boosting federal spending? The Heritage Foundation’s Brian Riedl puts a little perspective on the numbers made public today:
· This year, Washington will spend $30,958 per household, tax $17,576 per household, and borrow $13,392 per household. This spending is not just temporary: President Obama would permanently keep annual spending between $5,000 and $8,000 per household higher than it had been under President Bush. [Yet the idiots on the left keep bawling their eyes out over the focus group developed term “failed economic policies of the Bush administration.” At least true conservatives hammered Bush over his out of control spending, something the liberals will obviously never do with Obama…ed]
Brace yourself: Beer prices are going up
Beer drinkers beware: The cost of a cold one is going up. Brewers across the globe are hiking prices to compensate for lower sales volumes and higher commodity costs. Anheuser-Busch InBev, the world’s largest brewer and maker of Budweiser, announced plans to raise prices Tuesday. “We plan on taking price increases on a majority of volume and in a majority of markets this fall,” Anheuser-Busch InBev said in a statement. “The increase helps cover some input costs.” [Sales tank so the industry raises prices?…ed]
California state garage sale: Many things must go
Well, the countdown is continuing for the Great California Garage Sale this Friday and Saturday. The Golden State is in so much financial distress that it lost its lease and everything must go. Not really, but Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger decided to mark the end of soft news summer days with a sale of surplus, unused or wasteful state property. To enhance interest and bidding, the ex-movie star even autographed the sun visors of some vehicles for sale. [Not a bad idea but won’t raise enough money to pay the cost for half the illegal aliens in prison for a lousy month. Maybe California could just impose a big and permanent wealth tax on all of the uber rich left wing movie stars and entertainers living in the state?…ed]
Obama’s Carousel of Incompetence
According to the Gallup Poll, the Prophet Obama’s job approval is now at its lowest since his coronation. It began at 70 percent. Now it is at 51 percent. Equally glum, his disapproval rating has climbed from 11 percent to 42 percent. (SNIP) My belief, based on reports in the news and from my private network of seasoned agents and provocateurs, is that this White House is a carousel of incompetence. How else do we explain the ravening push on all fronts — health care, the environment, fiscal reform, intelligence reform and a foreign policy of humility and apology? Unsurprisingly, on every front, the president is in trouble. [The 2010 election will be a monumentally important event in which we have what may be our last chance to save this country as we know it and Obama/Congress know it. Let’s hope elections are still part of the American way of life come next year…ed]

Microsoft apologizes for race-swap photo incident
Microsoft apologized Tuesday for using photo editing techniques to change the race of a person depicted on the company’s Web site. In a photo on the company’s U.S. Web site, three businesspeople–one black, one white and one Asian are shown as part of a pitch for Microsoft’s business productivity software. In the same photo on the site of Microsoft’s Polish subsidiary, a white head is placed over the black person’s body, although the hand is not changed. The move sparked controversy after it was noticed, quickly making the rounds on Twitter and various Web sites. [It’s OK though. ‘Cruel and neglectful’ care of one million NHS patients exposed
In the last six years, the Patients Association claims hundreds of thousands have suffered from poor standards of nursing, often with ‘neglectful, demeaning, painful and sometimes downright cruel’ treatment. The charity has disclosed a horrifying catalogue of elderly people left in pain, in soiled bed clothes, denied adequate food and drink, and suffering from repeatedly cancelled operations, missed diagnoses and dismissive staff. Richardson Probe ‘Was Killed in Washington’
New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson and former high-ranking members of his administration won’t be criminally charged in a yearlong federal investigation into pay-to-play allegations involving one of the Democratic governor’s large political donors, someone familiar with the case said. The decision not to pursue indictments was made by top Justice Department officials, according to a person familiar with the investigation, who asked not to be identified because federal officials had not disclosed results of the probe. Tax Chief Charlie A Tax ‘Cheat,’ Too
The Tax Man is a deadbeat. Rep. Charles Rangel, chairman of the tax-writing Ways and Means Committee, has failed to pay taxes on two plots of land he has in New Jersey, records show. Rangel’s ownership of the small, undeveloped properties came to light on Tuesday only after he drastically amended at least six years of financial-disclosure forms he had filed annually with the House clerk as required by law. GDP declines 1 percent in 2Q, better than expected
The economy shrank at an annual rate of 1 percent in the spring, a better-than-expected showing and more evidence that the recession is drawing to a close. Many analysts believe the economy is growing in the current quarter, but they caution that any rebound will not be accompanied initially by rising employment. Jobless claims figures released Thursday were better than expected, but remain well above levels associated with a healthy economy. [Another lamestream media excuse piece. Ted Kennedy: The Senator of Sleaze who was a drunk sexual bully… and left a young woman to die
Senator Edward ‘Ted’ Kennedy stood for sleaze. Bloated and drunken, he used his standing in the Kennedy clan to chase vulnerable women – which brought his dream of reaching the White House to a shameful end. He was the youngest of the four Kennedy brothers, and by far the longest lived. Incredibly, he was in line to inherit his brother John F. Kennedy’s legendary presidency, but his chances were dashed following the drowning of the pretty, young campaign assistant Mary Jo Kopechne. Mark Tapscott: Let’s talk about your gold-plated, tax-paid compensation, Mr. Waxman
Ever notice how Henry Waxman’s cherubic face pops up so often? Most recently, he’s been in the news with his letter to 52 health insurance executives demanding that they cough up mountains of data about their compensation, expense accounts, retirement benefits, travel schedules, and shoe sizes. Okay, not that last item, but you get the drift here. Recipients of the Waxman letter – which was co-signed by Rep. Bart Stupak, D-MI – have no choice but to comply. So if Waxman – who is chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Committee – finds even the faintest whiff of scandal in the furthest corner of the health insurance industry, expect to be treated to the hollow spectacle of yet another congressional show trial. Brian Williams: In Lieu of Flowers for Ted, Pass Health Care Reform
NBC’s Brian Williams, during NBC News’ live coverage of the President’s remarks about the passing of Ted Kennedy on Wednesday, cited what sounded like a spam e-mail rallying support for health care reform, as a way to remember the Democratic Senator. Quoting from his in-box Williams suggested: “In lieu of flowers, pass health care reform.” [How about that neutral unbiased “just report the facts” mainstream media folks? Kansas pol Lynn Jenkins tells crowd: GOP needs ‘great white hope’ to battle Obama, Dems
U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins told a recent gathering in northeast Kansas that the Republican Party is looking for a “great white hope” to help stop the political agenda of the Democratic party and President Barack Obama. Videotape shows Jenkins, a Republican, making the comment at an Aug. 19 forum. She was discussing the Republican party’s future after Democrats took control of the House and Senate in the 2008 elections, when the presidency went to Obama, the nation’s first black president. Former Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean, a medical doctor who served as governor of Vermont, said at a town hall meeting on Tuesday night that Democrats in Congress did not include tort reform in the health care bill because they were fearful of “taking on” the trial lawyers. “This is the answer from a doctor and a politician,” said Dean. “Here is why tort reform is not in the bill. Bartender Fatally Shoots Man Waving Nail Gun
Authorities say a bartender fatally shot a 20-year-old man when he walked into the north Florida pub waving a nail driver that resembled a firearm. Authorities say the bartender repeatedly shot John L. Lee when he entered the Shantytown Pub dressed in black clothing and waving the nail gun. The bartender thought that the pub was being robbed. Facebook has agreed to make worldwide changes to its privacy policy as a result of negotiations with Canada’s privacy commissioner. FDIC: Number of troubled banks rises to 416
The Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. said Thursday that more lenders ran into financial trouble during the second quarter as the recession continued to saddle banks with soured loans. The FDIC said that the number of troubled banks rose to 416 at the end of June from 305 at the end of March. This is the largest number of banks on its “problem list” since June 30, 1994, when 434 banks were on the list. Assets at troubled banks totaled $299.8 billion, the highest level since Dec. 31, 1993, the agency said. Apple Confirms Anti-Malware Added to ‘Snow Leopard’
On Wednesday, it was discovered that the latest version of Apple’s OS X has clear built-in malware protection. Apple has since confirmed the addition. One of Apple’s stronger selling points has been its computers’ seeming imperviousness to such threats. This is not the first time Apple has acknowledged the existence of malware, of course, but it may be the clearest example of such an acknowledgment.
